Job Title: Duty Manager

Reporting to: Commercial Management 

Place of Work: The University of York Student Union venues, James College, Newton Way, York, YO10 5DD 

Contract: Fixed Term 

Pay: £14.33 per hour + £1.76 per hour holiday pay (12.07%)

Closing Date: Sunday 8th March 2026 at 9pm

Interview Location: The University of York Student's Union.

About the Role:

You will be supporting our commercial operation as a Duty Manager working across our 4 venues. We have 4 main venues on site, Courtyard, Glasshouse, Kitchen @ Alcuin, and Vanbrugh Arms. As Duty Manager, you will play a crucial part in leading the venue team to ensure that an outstanding level of customer service is provided at all times. You will support our commercial teams by leading as a duty manager in a positive and motivated manner.

Along with your exceptional customer service skills, a level head and a contagious can do attitude are essential skills to deliver a well led team in a vibrant and safe venue whilst adhering to licensing and food safety legislations at all times to deliver the best experience for our students.

This role would be ideal for a current Duty Manager or Front of House Managers or experienced team leader.

This is a fixed term full-time (35hrs/wk) position, due to start March 2026 as soon as references are complete. We offer a competitive hourly rate (which equal to £26,075 per annum) plus 12.07% holiday pay per hour. Join us and help shape the future of our Students' Union!
