Here at The University of York Students Union, we have 2 exciting job opportunities to join our Student Voice team as Student Researchers.
About the Role:
Are you a current University of York student who is passionate about research and insight? Have you previously collected and analysed data as part of your degree / work experience? Or is this an area you’re interested in developing?
As part of our exciting new Data and Insight Strategy, we’re looking for two student researchers to join us! This role will be 10 hours per week during Semester time.
What will you be doing?
Whilst you will be based in the Student Voice Team, you will be working with teams across the Student Union to deliver high-quality, impactful research. You will also support our Sabbatical Officers with their manifestos through providing insight and guiding them through research projects. You will work closely with the Research and Insight Development Coordinator to monitor data gaps and ensure there is no duplication of research across the organisation.
We welcome applications from all students with an interest in research, particularly from candidates with disabilities and/or from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. These roles are only available to students currently studying at the University of York. Our student roles are flexible to offer students the opportunity to work around their studies.
If you are interested in this role and want to find out more, please email [email protected].

We’re an inclusive workplace, where everyone is welcome, everyone can be natural, and be the best versions of themselves. Whatever your background, religion, identity, relationship status if you're good at what you do and want to provide the best experience possible for, with and by our students then jump in with your whole self.
York SU is committed to equality of opportunity - we are an organisation who works very hard to ensure we appoint based on merit. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with disabilities and/or from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
As a Disability Confident Employer, we are proud to offer an interview to applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised position.
**It is important to note that there may be occasions where it is not practicable or appropriate to interview all disabled people that meet the minimum criteria for the job. For example: in certain recruitment situations such as high number of applications, seasonal and high-peak times, we may have to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.
If you are invited to interview with us we will share our interview questions in advance so you can feel a little more prepared. We’re more interested in hearing about your experiences and ideas than in testing your memory, and so we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
If you have any further questions about the position, or if you have a requirement for adjustments that would make the application or interview process more accessible, please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected].
Please note that products containing nuts, dairy, gluten and other potential allergies are served within our venues. We however aim to support a nut free environment within our student centre by encouraging staff not to bring nut based products to work.
