About the Role:
We're on the hunt for a brilliant Lead IT Systems Engineer to join the team at the University of York Students' Union. If you're passionate about tech and love the idea of building a digital-first future, this role is for you. You'll be the go-to person for all things IT, from wrangling our current systems and managing projects to dreaming up and implementing brand new solutions. We're looking for someone with big-picture ideas who can also sweat the small stuff to make sure everything runs smoothly.
This isn't just a desk job - you'll be leading a small team, collaborating with everyone from students to external suppliers, and making a real difference to the student experience. We’re all about modernising our tech and making our processes truly efficient, and you'll be at the heart of that transformation. If you've got a solid background in IT infrastructure, a solid understanding of data warehousing, and a friendly, proactive approach to change, we want to hear from you. We offer a starting salary of £30,876 with annual increments through a salary scale of £30,876 - £34,071. You’ll get to work in a fun, fast-paced environment with flexible, hybrid working options and a range of fantastic benefits.

As a Disability Confident Committed Employer (LV1), we are proud to offer an interview to applicants who meet the minimum criteria** for the advertised position.
**It is important to note that there may be occasions where it is not practicable or appropriate to interview all disabled people that meet the minimum criteria for the job. For example: in certain recruitment situations such as high number of applications, seasonal and high-peak times, we may have to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.
If you are invited to interview with us we will share our interview questions in advance so you can feel a little more prepared. We’re more interested in hearing about your experiences and ideas than in testing your memory, and so we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
